Technical Information for the ECCO SIO Cluster

The following pages are provided for local informations within the SIO ECCO cluster. Different pages may be maintained by different users.

Software

Data Sets

Anonymous FTP

is available via ftp://ecco.ucsd.edu (only downloads are possible)
to copy files to the server one has to logon to ice and copy to /export/ice2/ftp/pub (please make subdirectories)

Personal Homepages

personal pages can be installed by placing a file index.html into the directory public_html of the users $HOME. This file is then available by expanding the path ~username (e.g. http://ecco.ucsd.edu/~biastoch/)

ECCO-SIO Homepage

Contents of the ECCO-SIO homepage (http://ecco.sio.ucsd.edu) are located in /usr/local/apache/htdocsonice.ucsd.edu.

Server

installed is the Apache Server, available at http://ecco.ucsd.edu
A manual of Apache can be found locally, another good source of information is Apacheweek

ECCO Group Homepag

Contents of the ECCO Consoritum homepage (http://www.ecco-group.org) are located in /las/apache/www/org.ecco-group.www/html on ecco-las.ucsd.edu.

ECCO Group Live Access Server (LAS)

Contents of the ECCO Consoritum LAS data server are located in /las/apache/www/org.ecco-group.www/lasxml/server on ecco-las.ucsd.edu.
Data from ECCO1 are defined by sio.xml. Data from ECCO2 are defined by jpl.xml. Each time when sio.xml or jpl.xml is modified, run the command below to combine the two sister servers:

../xml/perl/genLas2.pl -d ../ui sio.xml jpl.xml

ECCO-SIO Live Access Server (LAS)

Contents of the ECCO-SIO LAS data server are located in /las/apache/www/edu.ucsd.ecco-las/lasxml/server on ecco-las.ucsd.edu.
The procedure to upload data on LAS :

Convert data into NetCDF format;
Copy the data onto ecco-las.ucsd.edu, for example in directory /las/apache/www/org.ecco-group.sio/html/datasets;
Modify the sio.xml file by adding the links to the newly added data and definining the space and time axes;
Run the following command

../xml/perl/genLas2.pl -d ../ui coads.xml sio.xml

Modify the sio.xml file in /las/apache/www/org.ecco-group.www/lasxml/server and then link the sio.xml and jpl.xml files in that directory.

ECCO-SIO DODS

Data accessible from http://sio.ecco-group.org/datasets/ are located in /las/apache/www/org.ecco-group.sio/html/datasets on ecco-las.ucsd.edu
